GSN, WPTE Season VI World Poker Tour Broadcast Schedule

(February 13, 2008)
WPT Enterprises, Inc. and its new broadcast partner, Game Show Network recently announced the 2008 WPT television schedule to expectant viewers. This move to GSN will also include a new hostess who will show viewers around the new territory. WPT’s sixth season will be featuring 23 two-hour episodes, and premieres in its new GSN timeslot on Monday, March 24 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), kicking off with the Mirage Poker Showdown.

The new season will feature three new tour stops and the debut of hostess Layla Kayleigh. Kayleigh has previously appeared on G4 and Fox Sports Net and replaces Sabina Gadecki, who hosted the show for one season. Also new is WPT live update online hostess Kimberly Lansing, who will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the tournament action that led up to the final tables. Announcers Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten return for their sixth season as well. The WPT will follow the popular "High Stakes Poker" cash-game series on GSN.

"The WPT is one of the strongest brands on television, and poker fans will enjoy the action every Monday night on GSN," said Jamie Roberts, senior vice president of programming for GSN. "With the popularity of our original cash game 'High Stakes Poker' and the World Poker Tour, there is no better place to watch poker on television."
Steve Lipscomb, WPTE president, founder and CEO, added by saying: "We couldn't be more thrilled to have GSN as our partner, and the new home of WPT. (We) are dedicated to collectively broadening the poker experience for fans and viewers, and cannot wait to kick off our best season yet."

Quick Poker Tips

Spot The Online Poker Cheat!

Poker is a game of skill and wit, and as in life- you’ve gotta work hard, play hard and play fair. Just because we don’t like crip notes, or wasting time, or people who spoil the game for us… here’s a couple of pointers on how to spot a cheat in your online game.
Pay attention, because spotting these pet peeves could make the difference between a winning poker session and a losing poker session.
Pet Peeve #1
Can a cheat really predict cards or check your hand by using certain programs?
No, they can’t.
Truth is, there are bunches of such programs being offered for sale on the net to “help you cheat at poker”. They offer the prospective buyer a chance to make millions this way, but the funny thing is: the programs themselves are going for very menial amounts (?!).
How much do their owners really stand to gain by giving you millions for chump change? Fact is, large online poker rooms employ state of the art security techniques and the best people to provide you with the safest online gambling environments. These sites have to be approved by international standards before they can begin operation in the cyber-gambling world. So if you’ve ever been duped by any of these cheat programs: chances are, they’ve installed a back-door into your computer, and are now scamming you with your own money. But don’t worry, these can be easily removed from your machine simply by running a decent virus and spyware scan.
Pet Peeve #2
Collusion between players during online games.
This can happen when 2 or more people tell each other their cards over the phone or via chatrooms while they play at the same table.
Such players are most likely to be caught in the long run, as their patterns are easily discernible. They basically try to trap a player between them while they get into a raising war, while one of them holds a nut hand. When the player finally gets tired of betting and losing over and over again, the other colluders fold, leaving one to win the game uncontested, without having to show his hand.
How do you identify it?
Watch for two people who often get involved in pots with one another, but rarely take each other to a showdown. They most probably do not have a good hand between them, and therefore cannot afford people to see what they have.
If you ever suspect collusion, report the hand to the poker room. They have all the hands ever played, with all the cards ever dealt logged in their servers. If they spot cheaters, they usually confiscate their accounts and refund money to the people that were scammed. It is in the online casinos’ best interest in the long run to remain a respectable, trustworthy industry, therefore your online poker room is on your side as far as cheaters are concerned.

Let’s keep a look out for these offenders, guys. Poker is a smart game, and our guess is: if you’re half-decent, it’s gonna take a lot more than some dim-witted scam to spoil the fun...
